Guide

Your AI assistant, step by step

Everything you can switch on, in plain words. Each section takes a few minutes.

1. Getting started

Lost? Open My assistant (first item in your menu). It always shows your next step, ticks each step off by itself, and has a “Set it up for me” button if you'd rather a person helps.

Start whichever way suits you — a WebBot (no website needed), the website chatbot or the WhatsApp bot. It's one assistant: you can add the others later and it keeps everything it learnt. Every assistant starts from one of these — both use the same AI, so what you teach it works everywhere:

  • Website chatbot — a chat bubble on your website. Free to start (with a small “Powered by” link), paid plans from $3/month. Start here.
  • WebBot — no website needed: a page and QR code for your bio, status and flyers. Free. Start here.
  • WhatsApp bot — answers on your WhatsApp Business number. Try it free on our demo number, plans from $4/month. Start here.
  1. Create your account and pick your type of business — the bot starts with a template for it (you can change it later).
  2. Open Bot Studio → Teach your bot and add your prices, opening hours, delivery areas and common questions. The more you add, the better it answers.
  3. Test it in the preview chat. If an answer is wrong, correct it in “Teach your bot” — it learns straight away.
  4. Put it where your customers are: your website, WhatsApp, Telegram or your WebBot (below).

2. Channels & add-ons — one bot, many places

Your plan includes its own channel (website chat for the Website chatbot, WhatsApp for the WhatsApp bot). On any paid plan you can add more channels from My bot → Channels. The same bot, the same knowledge, the same orders and leads — just more places to reach you.

ChannelAdd-on price
Website chat$3/month (included in WhatsApp plans)
WhatsApp$4/month
Telegram$2/month
WebBotFree
App BotFree
Slack / Teams / Google Chat$3/month

The more you add, the less you pay

Every extra paid channel brings a bundle discount off your monthly total:

  • 2 paid channels — save $1 every month
  • 3 paid channels — save $1 every month
  • 4 paid channels — save $2 every month
  • 5 paid channels — save $3 every month

Example: WhatsApp Starter $4 + Telegram $2 = $5, minus $1 = $5/month.

Example: Website Starter $3 + WhatsApp $4 + Telegram $2 = $8, minus $1 = $7/month.

Your plan counts as your first channel. WhatsApp plans already include website chat, so there is nothing extra to pay for it.

How to add a channel

  1. Go to Channels and tap Add on the channel you want.
  2. You pay only for the days left in your current month; after that it is part of your normal monthly payment.
  3. Tap Set up and follow the short steps for that channel.
  4. You can remove an add-on any time — it stops at the end of the month you've paid for.

3. Telegram

Telegram bots are official and free from Telegram, and take about 2 minutes:

  1. Open Telegram, search for @BotFather (with the blue tick) and send /newbot.
  2. Give it a name (e.g. “Ada's Kitchen”) and a username ending in bot (e.g. adaskitchen_bot).
  3. BotFather replies with a token — a long code like 123456:ABC-…. Copy it.
  4. Paste it on My bot → Telegram and tap Connect. Done — share the t.me/… link with customers.

Keep the token private. If it ever leaks, send /revoke to BotFather and paste the new token.

A page where anyone can chat with your assistant — no website needed. Set it up on My bot → WebBot. Share it in your Instagram, TikTok and Facebook bio instead of “DM for price”, in your WhatsApp status, next to your payment details, and as a QR code on flyers and receipts.

Make it yours

  1. Words (all plans): your link name, the name on the page, one line and a short “about”.
  2. Look (Starter+): logo, brand colour (text switches to black or white automatically so it stays readable), light/dark, and buttons for WhatsApp, call, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, website, email and directions.
  3. Design (Pro+): choose Classic, Split, Floating card, Banner or Minimal; upload a background image; pick a font.
  4. Search & sharing (Starter+): your Google title and description, and the picture shown when the link is shared on WhatsApp or Facebook. We also tell Google your business name, logo, phone and social profiles.
  5. Tracking (Pro+): add your Google Analytics 4 ID and Meta Pixel ID — taps on your WhatsApp/call buttons are counted as “contact”.

Settings you fill in before upgrading are kept, and switch on the moment you upgrade.

Use your own domain (Pro+)

Easiest: Get a domain here — search a name, pay in naira, and we register it in your name and connect it for you. No DNS steps; it opens with https, usually within a few hours. Already have one? Follow these steps:

  1. Buy a domain from any registrar if you don't have one (Whogohost, Qservers, Namecheap, GoDaddy…).
  2. On your WebBot settings, open Your own domain and type the address — we recommend a sub-address like chat.yourbusiness.com, so your main website is untouched.
  3. We show you the exact DNS record(s): usually one CNAME for a sub-address, or an A record plus a www CNAME for a main domain. Log in to your domain provider, open DNS / Zone editor, add them exactly, and save.
  4. Also: delete any old A/AAAA/CNAME record for the same name; if your DNS is on Cloudflare set the record to DNS only (grey cloud); if you use CAA records, allow letsencrypt.org. The page warns you if it spots any of these.
  5. Press Check now. DNS changes usually show within an hour (sometimes up to 24). We check every hour, switch on the secure padlock (SSL) for you, and email you when it's live.

Your free link keeps working and forwards to your domain, so printed QR codes never break.

Messages included

Each plan includes a number of AI replies a month on your WebBot (Free: 500). You get an email at 80%. When they run out, visitors see a polite “we'll get back to you” message until next month or until you upgrade.

5. Templates

Pick your type of business on Templates: restaurant, salon, boutique, pharmacy, school, real estate, clinic or general. The template teaches the bot how that business works — what to ask before taking an order, what to never promise (a pharmacy bot never diagnoses, a clinic bot never gives medical advice). Tick “example answers” to get sample prices you can replace with yours. Your own information always comes first.

6. Languages

On Grow sales → Language, choose Automatic (the bot replies in the customer's language — English, Pidgin, Yoruba, Igbo or Hausa) or fix one language. Included on every plan.

7. Voice notes

Many customers prefer to talk. With voice notes on, the bot listens to WhatsApp and Telegram voice notes and replies in text, just as if they had typed. Switch it on in Grow sales. Included on every plan; each voice note uses one reply.

8. Grow sales (paid plans)

Suggest one more item

Tell the bot what goes well together (“jollof rice → chilled drink”, “braids → edge control”). When a customer orders, it suggests the extra item once, politely.

Didn't-buy follow-up

If someone asked about prices but didn't order, the bot sends one friendly message a few hours later (you choose when, and what it says). It never messages people who already ordered, and only once.

Referral codes

Customers ask the bot for their code and share it. When a friend sends that code, it's recorded and you see a leaderboard of your best referrers — reward them however you like (e.g. “₦1,000 off your next order”).

Payment links

Connect Paystack in Bot Studio → Payments and the bot sends a payment link when an order is confirmed.

9. Payment reminders (paid plans)

For school fees, rent, instalments, loans and subscriptions. On Payment reminders:

  1. Add a customer (name, WhatsApp number, amount, what it's for, due date) — or paste a whole list, one per line: name, phone, amount, due date, what for.
  2. Add “How customers should pay” — your bank details or payment link — once.
  3. The bot sends a polite reminder 3 days before, on the due date, and 3 and 7 days after if still unpaid, between 8am and 7pm.
  4. Tap Paid when they pay. Monthly and termly reminders roll on to the next date automatically.

Reminders go out on WhatsApp from your own connected number; if WhatsApp isn't connected, by email to customers who have one.

10. Daily summary

Every morning you get a short email: how many people the bot spoke to, new orders and leads, questions it couldn't answer, and anyone who sounded unhappy — so you know who to call. Switch it on or send yourself a preview in Grow sales.

11. Billing

  • One monthly payment covers your plan and every add-on, minus your bundle discount. See it on Channels or in Billing.
  • Pay by card with auto-renew, or by a payment link we send before each renewal.
  • If a payment fails you get a few days' grace; after that the bot pauses (nothing is deleted) and restarts as soon as you pay.
  • Want us to set everything up for you? Choose “Do it for me” when picking a plan.

12. Questions

Do I need to teach the bot again for each channel?

No. One bot, one set of knowledge — every channel uses it.

Will my replies be shared between channels?

Yes — your plan's monthly replies are used by all your channels together (WhatsApp add-ons come with their own WhatsApp replies).

Can a human take over?

Yes. When a customer asks for a person, or the bot is unsure, it hands over and you're notified. You can reply yourself from Bot Studio or your phone.

What about Instagram, Messenger, SMS and email?

They're coming next. You'll see them on the Channels page marked “Coming soon” and can add them as soon as they're live.

I'm stuck.

Message us on WhatsApp or contact support — we'll help you finish setting up.
